Well, this is my third time trying to write something for Mother's Day. Honestly, sometimes it's so hard to find the right things to say. Mother's Day is a beautiful day to honor our mother's. An amazing super-woman in our life who wiped our dirty bottoms and took care of us when we were sick. At the same time, it hits everyone in a different way. Some people may not have been lucky enough to experience a super woman for a mom. Maybe they don't even have a relationship with her. Or maybe their mother has passed away and are no longer here. I think this post has been so hard for me to write because Mother's Day can mean so many different things to different people. I've had Mother's Day's where I was just thankful for my amazing Mother and Grandmother. Then I had a season where they were a little painful. After having a miscarriage early in our marriage, Mother's Day was never the same. Every time someone "accidentally" said it to me, I would burst into tears. Then I had my beautiful baby boy and got to enjoy Mother's Day in a different way and I had never been more thankful to be called "Mom". This year is different as well. We just lost my grandmother last month and while I miss her so much and she left an amazing family legacy behind, I can't help but think of my mom as the day arrives. It's funny how as kids we never feel like we can give our mom's the gifts they deserve. If that was the case, I'd send her on an amazing vacation, with me as her partner of course, and she'd have to swing by LA to see her grandson on the way to her vacation. But, since my bank account isn't set up that, I was really stuck on what to do for her this year. So I recorded this cover "To Make You Feel My Love" for her. I can only hope it will make this Mother's Day a little sweeter on a bittersweet year. So to every woman who is going into Mother's Day this weekend, know that it's ok for it to be a little bittersweet. Someone else may be crying for the same reason you are or maybe their reason is different than yours. But as women, we are strong. Our emotions, softness and vulnerability is what makes us the best mom's we could ever be. And if you're not a mom, you're a friend, to someone who may really need you. Let's be the best friends to our sisters who need us in whatever state Mother's Day may find them. Celebrate with them when it's a good year, cry with them when it's a tough one. Love them no matter where they are and just be there for them. Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day wherever it may find you in this season of life!
